Practices

The season's still a ways off, but now is the time to start getting ready. We've done a few informal practices so far, but are interested in hearing your input.

Past practices have included skills clinics, race-style laps, trail rides and even the occasional run. What types of events would you be interested in attending? When are you usually available? Would you be interested in leading a practice? Use the comment function and let us know, we'll do our best to accomodate everyone.

Hi guys. We've been doing the occasional practice on a Monday night, but need some change in our lives.

I've got a regular 9-5 M-f and work at the Bike Rack on Sundays. So weeknights and Saturdays are best for me.

You?

Hey John, hey all. Anyone who even has an inkling about trying cross should come out one night. It's a lot of fun and everyone is super laid back.

Weeknights should work okay for me, depending on what's going on that week. One day for sure that is optimal for me is Friday evenings after 7:30. Since I'm already working until 7 that day, I'm pretty much freed from fam. responsibilities. Plus, I'm right near UMD--cross course extraordinaire (free parking after 4:30).

For real, though, I need to start ratcheting up the training regime a bit. September is really really soon.

They haven't posted information about the date this year, but as soon as they do, I'm all over it.

I just hope its not the same weekend as the Ottawa polo tourney.

email sent to bilenky about the race.

Just got a nice note from Stephen Bilenky saying that yes, they are planning on doing it again in December but they haven't set a date yet. I'll keep an eye on the site for updates.

Dude, I totally emailed him too!

Having Dave order me a TCX Team. What up cross.

okay guys, slight change of plans for tonight. our catholic loop is mostly out of comission due to some construction up that way.

we'll still meet in the same spot, field just to the right of the basilica (as viewed from the front) at 7pm. then we head over to the bike rack, collect dave and any other stragglers and go hammer out some miles on the c&o.

should take about the same time as a normal practice and i'm heading right back to the same spot afterwards so interruption will be minimal.

sorry for the short notice.

I might come out tonight. Nothing for sure though. I only have the IRO or the Marinoni built up to take out, if the weather is bad, brakeless fixed with a tall ratio wouldn't be fun.

so, as those who were there know, i was a bit late to practice last night. greg and tom, i'm so sorry, it sounds like i just missed you guys.

Hey all -- I'm interested in practicing. Is this where info will be posted? I have the google calendar but it seems to be mostly the BikeRack Sunday ride. I'm new to the sport.

Thanks,
Mike

hey mike!

yes and no. we're actually in the process of getting out of blogspot and moving to a better hosting solution. we'll have a redirect/link on this page when the new site's up (hopefully before the end of this week).

i was thinking about doing a practice some weeknight next week, when's best for you?

ryand said...

Mike, welcome! Please join us!

As John said, something better is coming very very soon!

We are thinking practice next week will be on Thursday, does this work for you?

Mike,

Next Thursday, September 6, we are doing a cross practice. Meet at 7:00 (pm) at The Bike Rack (1412 Q St NW). This practice will go over the basics and how to have a good time. You are more than welcome to join us.

Hey Guys,
This will be my first intro into cross. Should I ride slicks for tommorow or something with more tread?

Thanks

Ari

hi ari!

for tomorrow's practice it wont be so important what tires you run. it'll be mostly mounts, dismounts, shouldering and clearing barriers.

look forward to meeting you,

-john

dewds

I am lame. I was too sacked out after riding like a freak all day with no water to do anything yesterday, but I'm glad y'all had fun.

looks I won't be racing or doing anything at all until after mid-october. I'll probably keep doing morning laps near carter barron mondays and tuesdays.

It's a lot more fun with other people, though.
